Description

An alloy used for many structural purposes. Contains magnesium and silicon as the alloying elements. Often seen as door frames, window frames, sign frames, etc. The most popular aluminum for extruding.

Specifications

• Must be completely clean with the exception of paint. No screws, plastic, zinc, or other aluminums.

Preparation Tips

• Weld joints are a different type of aluminum and will be downgraded
• Watch for folded sheet aluminum. Sometimes window frames and other items will a folded sheet aluminum frame instead of an extruded aluminum frame.
